SIGN Decision Support
The SIGN Decision Support platform is a mobile app and accompanying website which provide a single go-to place for a range of decision support toolkits based on SIGN guidance. Users can download as many toolkits as they wish to IOS and Android devices, or can access them online via the web.
This platform is supported by a partnership between the Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network (SIGN) within Healthcare Improvement Scotland (HIS) and the Digital Health and Care Institute (DHI), which leads delivery of the national decision support programme as a key objective within Scotland’s Digital Health and Care Strategy.
The aim of the platform is to increase the accessibility and implementation of SIGN advice and guidance in frontline practice. Traditionally SIGN guidelines were prepared for release as printed documents. As health and social care practitioners face an ever expanding knowledge base presented to them through diverse routes, with escalating pressures on their limited time, HIS and SIGN recognise the need for new, proactive, intelligent ways of getting evidence and guidance to point of care.
In order to have the most direct impact on frontline decision making and patient outcomes, in a changing service context, SIGN is now embedding its evidence and guidance products into the national decision support system created by DHI – the Right Decision Service. The toolsets available through this website and app have been built using the Right Decision Service, and the intention is that this suite of SIGN decision support tools will expand over time.
We welcome your feedback on these SIGN decision support tools. Please use the Feedback links within each toolkit to share your views with us.
